Offering reading and writing services to our community and beyond.
More...more, more, MORE. This is the refrain that is heard time and again in our schools-if only we could offer our students more! If only there were more resources in the community! Our teachers are working tirelessly to meet the learning needs of our students but inevitably, some students are left needing MORE. More high-quality instruction through a structured literacy program; More individualized attention and practice of reading/writing skills; More support for caregivers regarding how to practice reading with their struggling reader.
Therachieve Education Services is here to offer MORE. Our mission is to serve the youth in our community and their families by bridging the gap between what our schools can offer and what our students need-MORE. Reading is a fundamental right but many schools are not able to meet the learning needs of our students with dyslexia. We seek to ease the tension that caregivers experience when their children are struggling by meeting students at their level of need and building the underlying skills and processes needed to become proficient readers!
While reading intervention can be beneficial to a person at any point in life, there are critical periods in your child's development, at which times children are more efficient at acquiring particular skills. At-risk readers often do not receive the instruction or intervention that they need during these critical periods, which makes them more treatment-resistant down the road. Students with dyslexia can be identified as young as preschool/kindergarten but often do not start receiving intervention until they are 9-10 years old.
Students with dyslexia don't just need intervention-they need the right intervention! The intensive Orton-Gillingham instruction offered through Therachieve Education Services is prescriptive, targeted and flexible to your child's unique needs. It is therapeutic because the focus is on creating new, more efficient pathways to reading and writing in your child's brain, thereby alleviating the effects of dyslexia on your child's lived experience.
Children don't learn from people they don't like. Period. At Therachieve Education Services, the relationship comes first. We focus on the whole-child and provide intervention within a calm, emotionally-supportive setting. Since it's so targeted and controlled, the reading/writing instruction your child will receive at Therachieve is virtually error-free learning, which helps students gain confidence in themselves as they acquire new skills.
Hello! My name is Rachel Yang and I am a School Psychologist with my Education Specialist Degree in School Psychology. About 10 years ago, I became passionate about the science of reading and, in particular, how to help struggling readers and students with dyslexia close the skill gap. Since then, I've become a Certified Academic Language Practitioner and Diplomate with the American Board of School Neuropsychology. I love using my school neuropsych training, in combination with my Orton-Gillingham training, to precisely tailor interventions to a student's specific strengths and weaknesses!
I have three young children of my own and know that establishing a caring, trusting relationship with my students is paramount! I enjoy watching my students' skills and confidence grow with each lesson.
